Here is where I keep prior version of all my songs. You should always see the most recent version of each of my songs in its normal home, but here's where you can come to see how the songs have progressed over time.

Bone Yard

She Believes (v2)

4:22 minutes

At about the time his daughter turned five, a buddy of mine started telling her goodnight stories. Except, this guy grew up reading comic books, so his idea of telling goodnight stories was to tell her the story of Darth Vader, and of Superman. There was something about that that I thought was so funny, and kind of touching too. So that eventually turned into this song.

This is a smoother version of the song, with more confident vocals. My friend Steve Morgan came over to play bass - I could have mixed him higher, but it still provides some subtle foundation. The previous version of the song can be found in the Bone Yard.

She Believes (v1)

4:34 minutes

At about the time his daughter turned five, a buddy of mine started telling her goodnight stories. Except, this guy grew up reading comic books, so his idea of telling goodnight stories was to tell her the story of Darth Vader, and of Superman. There was something about that that I thought was so funny, and kind of touching too. So that eventually turned into this song.

This is my first successful recording of "She Believes". This is a rough recording, more of a way to document the introduction of the song rather than stand behind a particular performance of it. Still, it's probably my favorite song of mine so far. I'll be uploading more versions of it in the future. Comments appreciated as always.

I Have A Cold (v2)

2:57 minutes

A slightly better version of "I Have A Cold", originally written over about a two-hour period when I grumpily realized I was coming down with a cold. Piano is recorded with a slightly higher level, and I'm not holding "Coooold" out forever and ever. Plus my voice is really tired from being sick, which kinda cracks me up.

I Have A Cold (v1)

3:04 minutes

I came down with a cold today. :(

Balancing Above The Air (v1)

3:41 minutes

On 11/11/06 I wanted to see if I could write a song in less than an hour. The first draft took 45 minutes. The piano line was partially inspired from one of my piano improvs, Small Town Sunday. Lyrics were free-written. Tonight I pulled it out again and reworked the bridge. This is the first recorded version where I got through it successfully from beginning to end.
