This is actually the first song I've ever written, and I'm not sure why it's taken me this long to post it. I wrote this for In The Buff, the a cappella group I co-founded when I was in college. I hear about this tune popping up from time to time, apparently others have used it or sung it in other competitions. The guys did a great job recording it for having limited studio time. I've always always been enamored with the idea of redoing it for big band. Pete Wright sings lead on this.

Hey Curt - I know you toyed with the idea of Vagabond Blues being a sort of signature song for a character in a musical - ever thought of expanding on that? There is a lot of activity in the new-theater waters right now, and the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta (winner of the regional Tony a couple years ago) puts on at least one new work a year; this is where The Color Purple and JC Superstar Gospel premiered. Anyway - love to hear your thoughts on that.

Hey Mack - it's funny because the one comment I get about my pop songs (that I've been wanting to squash) is that they sound like they could come from a musical. Sometimes I consider just going with it and writing a musical since there's apparently one in my system somewhere. ;) My original idea for Vagabond Blues had to do with King Lear, based off of a story I misheard. I still toy with the whole thing from time to time... but in the absence of some external kind of energy or opportunity that falls into my lap, I wouldn't really know how to get started.

Yeah. I can still pick you out in the mid-range. Forgot how good you guys were. Ooh that's the tune that keeps going thru my head even now... Dr. Pogue!! Post that bad boy if you still have it.
Also Kiss from a Rose... I never got to hear it. I remember you saying how good your voice sounded with itself when you recorded all the parts yourself!
